Bentley SUV, "on the large side", while plug-in system will come in V8 and W12 forms

Wolfgang Durheimer, CEO of Bentley, was present at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show where he revealed some valuable insight on the brand’s future. The cat was out of bag and into the court of Car and Driver, according to which, the big boss almost officially confirmed the Bentley SUV saying “It will not be a Hummer . . . but it will be on the large side.”
He further continued by saying the car will have a lot of space for both the passengers and cargo. 4 o5 passenger configurations will be available and a host of options are almost certain to be included. Until an official decision will be made (and it seems that decision is a couple of weeks away), we must comfort ourselves to knowing the SUV will be destined to conquer markets like the US, Russia and China.
Regarding the plug-in tech Bentley will use, it will still be a long time before we see an eco friendly luxury car from this brand. Also, the tech is most likely to be scavenged from its parent company Volkswagen.
Regardless, it will be available in both V8 and W12 variants. No official confirmation yet, but that is the most likely scenario. Durheimer suggested the freshly developed 4 liter V8 would occupy the gas position in the future hybrid system. The W12 could also take on a similar position because of its shortness. An electric motor is deemed acceptable by Bentley if it can provide 16-19 electric miles.
While a lot is still in the realm of possibilities, one thing is certain: the next generation of Bentleys will be greener.
