The last years have seen major improvements in Audi’s designs. The transition from the much too discreet shape of older models to the dynamic and significantly elegant lines we have today has been a major boost for Audi sales wiorldwide.
That main responsibility for many of Audi’s car desings is Wolfgang Egger. Right now his merits have been recognized, and he has been promoted to be both Head of Audi Group Design and Head of Audi Brand Design. Right now he only occupies the the position of Head of Audi Group Design.
The one being replaced by Egger, age 48, is the current chief responsible for Audi’s designs, Stefan Sielaff. The latter is promoted to being Head of the Volkswagen Design Center in Potsdam, Germany, as well as Head of Interior Design for the entire Volkswagen Group.
The freshly promoted Audi Design chief is at the helm of Audi’s Group Design since April 2007. From here he was responsible For creating the overall designs of Audi and Lamborghini, and eveything else that has the Audi brand on it.
Audi Group Design managed to produce a great number of innovative designs in recent years, some of which had impact on the whole auto industry. The overall result was a strategic repositioning of the brand’s designs. One of Egger’s latest designs was the
Audi quattro concept put on display in 2010, a concept which holds hints of how the future Audis will look like.
Prior to his coming at Audi, Egger worked for Alfa Romeo as Head of its Centro Stile and Lancia Centro Stile. He is to take up his new position next year from February 1.
