The big boos of the Prancing Horse Luca Cordero di Montezemolo has sent a letter to Italia Futura, an industrial group of which he is a member of, in which he exposes his ideas and plans on how the country could get out of the sticky situation it’s in.

It is no big secret that di Montezemolo wants to see major improvements in the economic environment of Italy. He even went as far to reveal political ambitions back in February, if that could help bring about the changes needed. Now, in this letter he goes on and explains his vision of why Italy is where it is, and how that can be changed.

He said a weak government unable to make any decisions has left the country paralyzed. The only way of getting out of this situation is by privatizing public assets, reforming the welfare system and putting the tax burden on the rich. Especially the latter aspect has been actively promoted by di Montezemolo and a couple of other European elites.

If he does make a move into the world of politics, a few questions will have to be answered: what will happen to Ferrari? Will the company be affected in any way by this? Will a suitable replacement be found? These questions have no answer yet.

Luca Cordero di Montezemolo has played a crucial role in Ferrari’s operations during the 90s, and to this day he still does. If he is to leave the company, the gap left behind will be quite large, and his successor will have to live in his shadow, at least for a while.
