VW's Global Sales was Fueled by U.S Deliveries

Volkswagen AG said in a statement that deliveries of the company's core VW brand inclined to record 5.1 million units in 2011, fueled by the greatest rally in the automaker's sales in the United States in more than ten years. Volkswagen's global sales rose 13 percent, while U.S sales represent about 6.3 percent of total global sales with 324,402 vehicles.
Volkswagen's sales in the U.S auto market rose 26 percent last year, which is the sharpest increase since the automaker's deliveries gained 44 percent in 1999, but still Christian Klinger, VW's sales director, see the market environment is going to remain challenging this year, according to his statements last week.
Yet, Jonathan Browning, CEO of VW Group of America said he expects this year to be stronger for U.S deliveries, and he is anticipating total light vehicles sales to be between 13.5 million units and 14 million units compared to 12.8 million units last year.
Volkswagen is working to increase its sales annual growth rate in the U.S in the next few years in order to reach one million units in 2018, keeping in mind that the target includes 800,000 of VW brand and 200,000 of Audis. It is important to know that VW's annual deliveries in China reached 1.72 million units, which represents a 14 percent increase from 2010, while sales in India reached 76,100 units, and sales in Russia came at 118,000 last year.
